TraffMobility was retained by McMaster University to develop a forward-thinking parking strategy tailored to the needs of the university community and visitors. Collaborating with the university's project team, the study used evidence-based insights—including parking occupancy data, revenue, and costs—to identify key challenges and recommend practical, community-focused solutions.
The strategy addressed current parking deficiencies and planned for future demands in a sustainable manner. It included a comprehensive review of McMaster’s parking management approach, an analysis of the Parking Services Department’s roles and responsibilities, and recommendations to address identified gaps and improve operations. Financial planning was a key component, focusing on parking demand and permit allocation under best, likely, and worst-case scenarios.
TraffMobility also conducted a review of parking technologies, including the parking permit system and permit issue database management, to enhance efficiency and user experience. Additionally, we led stakeholder engagement efforts, such as conducting surveys and coordinating meetings with various university departments, ensuring the strategy was informed by diverse perspectives and aligned with institutional goals.
