TraffMobility Engineering Inc. was retained as a traffic engineering consultant to conduct a Transportation Impact Assessment in support of the traffic management measures during construction at the Long Branch GO Station as part of the Lakeshore West Infrastructure Improvements project. This initiative aimed at enhancing traffic and transit management, supporting the Traffic and Transit Management Plan (TTMP) for improved traffic flow and infrastructure development.
Our team developed a comprehensive work plan to deliver the required Traffic Services throughout the execution of the project. Key tasks included:
Data Collection and Processing:Â TraffMobility gathered historical traffic data from municipal and provincial sources, conducted new traffic counts, and collected relevant data at key study intersections during peak periods.
Traffic Analysis:Â Our team assessed current traffic conditions, forecasted future demands, and evaluated construction staging impacts. We also updated signal timing plans and performed intersection operations analyses using industry-standard software (Synchro 11) and Highway Capacity Manual methodology.
Documentation:Â TraffMobility prepared detailed Traffic Impact Assessment Reports for the Grade Separation at Burloak Drive and the construction staging at Long Branch Station, alongside a Traffic Assessment Memo for intersection improvements.
Meetings and Coordination:Â A series of internal coordination meetings and design meetings with external agencies were held to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
With a focus on mitigating impacts to cars, buses, pedestrians, and cyclists, TraffMobility successfully provided thorough traffic assessments and actionable recommendations to support the completion of this infrastructure project.
