As a Transportation Planner / EIT, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in the areas of transportation planning, multi-resolution modelling, active transportation, traffic management, transit planning, pedestrian modelling, and traffic operations and road safety. Moreover, you will get to participate in the Idea Lab and work on research & innovation pilot studies in partnerships with academia and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Apply knowledge of the general concepts of transportation planning, transportation modelling, and traffic engineering.

Assist with the preparation of proposals and technical reports including planning studies, traffic management studies, traffic impact studies, parking studies, transit feasibility studies, pedestrian modelling studies, etc.

Perform research, obtains traffic and GIS data, conduct calculations, and transportation related analyses.

Responsible for assisting in the preparation and coordination of technical activities on assigned projects.

Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Conduct site visits, as required.
Education and Experience:

2-5 years of experience in the transportation planning and traffic engineering industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning or equivalent from an accredited university with emphasis in Transportation Planning.

Knowledge of transportation planning and traffic engineering concepts and principles.
-
Direct project experience with transportation modelling packages such as Emme, VISUM, Aimsun, or VISSIM.

Direct project experience with pedestrian modelling concepts and software packages (MassMotion or Legion).

Experience with programming languages such as VBA, Python, and Java Script.

Experience with ArcGIS software.

Technical knowledge of transit station design is considered an asset.

Experience with Synchro and HCS software with knowledge of intersection operational analysis.

Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with Access and MS Project.

Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.

Demonstrated ability to perform individually or as a team member with effective time management skills and able to work on different tasks at the same time.

Strong analytical and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication.

Developing organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.

Developing knowledge of provincial and municipal legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions.

Knowledge of AutoCAD considered an asset.

Eligibility to register as an EIT with PEO or RPP with OPPI.
